Java 1.6 & Leopard OS X

So, what gives?? Gosling not carrying a MAC and of course, Williamson believes its a toy anyway.  Point is, I hit the Java 1.6 wall and OS X is failing me...  What's Apple thinking??  I knew it was bad news when the iPhone did not include a JVM.  

I wasn't so concerned but the fact I need to code in 1.6 and Im on Leopard and straddling Tiger I'm in a Solaris VM getting the damn thing to work and giving up, temporarily, I hope, on Leopard.  

 Apple where's my cup of JOE I need 1.6 yesterday?  Or should I try a Dell?
