If You Due Anything In Your Life Shake Your Tree

« H E SOS :: MISC :: email
posted 22 August 2008, Friday

Open source is about shaking your own tree and sharing your gifts with others.  By sharing your talents, thoughts and efforts the effect on the whole is better for the whole.  Individually we benefit 10 fold for any of us that gives a little of our talent to the world.  The result when undertaking an open source project is the lesson itself which starts to work toward your benefit.  The greatest idea is as great as its thinker is to share that idea.  Monetizing will come, to fear what would happen if you throw your idea to the world and some one will copy it.... Well, that could happen, but why..

Why would that happen....  Because people are greedy, they steal ideas??  No way, not the greatest thought!  Your idea, as soon as you think  "it" it's out in the world in the first place.  Forget it, you can't keep it in your mind like a trap.. The universe and every human is connected the lone idea you thought , and is probably, 99.9% of the time is not unique.  At the very best it is a copy of nature, an abstraction from the universe.  Nothings new, just not acted upon.  There lies the key.

Share your ideas, they will start to live. When some one supposedly "Steals Them" it not stealing at all.  Its your own lack of action..  Even if they stole them and acted upon them, well then, there you go...  NOw, if you have a patent, and its a legitimate patent, then you acted on your idea in order to protect it.  See, its action, again, at your own hand that makes the idea great and secure. However, look at the positive, even if you have action and someone has your idea and you did not protect.... NO worries this is better awareness, and awareness sells.  Stop thinking of ALL the market and think of what % can sustain your dreams.  You see, grabbing all, is just to damn selfish.  Why should someone else not succeed where you have?

Let's take Peter Gabriel and Mr Tony Levin.  They shake there tree, there music can be copied, there instruments can be played...  But at the end of the day "Shaking The Tree" is Peter Gabriel's, Youssou Ndour's and Tony Levin's. It can not be performed with the same spirit, joy and beauty.  The Point here is others can perform it, and have, but its Gabriel and Ndour who brought it to the ear.  You can enjoy other performers and purchase other performers rendition.  That's not gonna bother Peter, because many of us will still by his tickets, albums and paraphernalia out of admiration, and their participation and gift to the the world.

Peter Gabriel
 LYRICS "Shaking The Tree"

You see, its the same, beyond music, everything is art, the steel worker that forges, the Salesperson that Sells, , the programmer that cuts code to a painter,  poet, and sculptor.  Its all an effort of a life and the art is the exertion from the life of lessons in the space.  We are all artists, we all have our own tree.  Don't cause a moment of delay, shake your tree, if you don't, really, it hurts us all...  So in Peter's words.....  "Souma yergon, sou nou yergon, we are shakin the tree".  Shake your tree, act out your talents, and share in open source be it love, effort or just ripping code.  It just makes us all better.
