Why use Twitter, Well because the world is using it and society follows the world,. Really, if  35 or younger comes into your business and asks if you have a Twitter, Facebook or Mysapce account your response is flat out "YES" or it better be...

Now, why should you say yes and why should you use anyone of these accounts.  Because, in your home town, Grandmas are playing Farmville, Johnny's trying to find girls to answer is 10 favorite questions, Mary wants to send everyone a hug, a the yoga enthusiast is trying to get you to join her class and National News Tweeting in Real-Time.

Point, they are customers and have the chance to be YOUR customers. Get in the game.

So, let's start with twitter:

  1. Sign up for an account  https://twitter.com/signup
    • Use your business email (You may want to use a different account this up to yo)
  2. Pick a User Name
  3. Select the "Find People" option in the top menu
  4. Now put in search terms for your business, products, or interests.
    • ie: coffee, chocolate, technologies, sports
  5. Review the results and choose carefully.  Choose like products, people who follow your business space
    • This step is important if your selling coffee pots choose coffee drinkers to follow
    • Insure who you follow has an active tweeter count from hours to days
    • View whom you follow if they have followers
  6. Now Tweet, say something pithy but insure its worth saying.  
  7. Comment on whom you follow with a value add
    • If Someone replies to you Respond
  8. Send your own Tweets in the form of coupons, announcements, events
    • Be creative but interact.  Roll this into your marketing efforts.
  9. Comments on events that enlighten the user to your business
  10. Check your Direct Messages, Reply When It Adds Value
A many people think Twitter is a flash in the pan.  They maybe right, but it is working now, broadcasting is embracing the tool as it he users of the Internet.
 
It's a free tool and your time  (investment) to get your business out.  Using it now and harvesting clients customers or product sails is working for many why not you and your business!?   As a business owner you have things to say.  New products, new prices, new tips, tricks and general news.  Tweet, it works!
