Google Still Winning & Search Engine Newbies Still Coming & We All Win In Either Case

posted 26 December 2006, Tuesday

Google is just adding value every time you turn around.  The labs have have grown quite a bit in the past year.  The momentum is staggering and the new services offerings of the Patent search, archival news, CODE (I don't find a lot here but at times it is useful), and the CO-OP is a step in the right direction for clients to get up and running.  These solutions are not the best nor are they the worst, but, they are...  The truth is, if your starting a search engine this is the mark and the services are all inclusive.  If you think Google's not working on new GUI's, Search Discernment Engine and of course, Google.TV with Multi-Media Search capabilities, ya better think again.  If you have thunked it, well most likely Google has too...  But fear not young prusuer of solutions, there is a lot of unthunked material on this planet, hesitate not!

We never thought Yahoo! would be dethroned and Google did the job, ten years in the making.  Google strike'th the Yahoo Heart and stumble she has even with 4/5 year lead.  With the proper alignment of the stars and a brave new mind Google, too, can be dethroned.  It's quite a task.  It's quite a mountain to climb.  They do have all the data, the have battalions of great minds and the dethroning Google, though not impossible, is probable.  A David can come along when you least expect it but the worst you can do, especially for Google is not expect it!

The benefit to the Open Source community is the Valuable API's from Google and the competition.  If your data has value and you want to sell the information you can put the building of a search engine hold. Leverage the vast ocean of Search API's available, integrate some strong Open Source RIA tools, employ a few favorable Open Source server technologies and get your unique product to the market beating your competition.  So, Go Loud, Launch The Product and Sail Into Success!

The cornucopia of search engines that lay in the open waters of the internet is staggering.  The ones that win are any ones guess, however, the API's and services create the tipping point to user adoption.  Follow the surf and you'll find a productive land.  Employ these services in your quest and the speed to up and running is faster than you going it at it alone.  The Internet's vast solutions together makes Your Efforts Intradependent exceeding what expectations you may have thought were the impossible.

Google leading the charge and the competition taking shots to make their name creates an environment for us all to win!!  Viva La Google and Every Search Engine Newbie!!  And thank you, its what raises the Search Engine space to the next level.

Here it is a list of some search engines in for your reference.

To list just a few and, without doubt there are several more to come online with all the 2006 busy little search beavers taking a shot at Google.  Success may tip, however, the Patent searching, News Archive search and CO-OP are here and now.  Using these new Google Tools/Services, well, for now is easy.  Google has "ALL" the data and well, many others are playing catchup and look at me.

I was mildly impressed with Accoona last year and today, well, 14 months later,  the interface is just downright distasteul.  So, basically, I am still Googling away...  Though I like Clusty these days.

Point is, search is played out in the lay of the land and "Dark Web" searching, true discernment and parsing in real-time incoming/outgoing data is the next direction for corporate.  Using the APIs and tool packs are what could make you a star in the corporate world!
