Yesterday, I got my Macbook Pro. It's a quick little bugger and sitting next to my 17" powerbook is just flat out faster. The productivity gain as whole is immediately seen from compiles to launching applications! Of course, blogging, writing word, excel and powerpoint documents and the like will always succumb to the bottlnecks which are quickness/or slowness of thought, my slow/fast typing and the occasional pauses (telephone calls, coffee breaks and the miscellaneous interruptions of any given moment) always a factor in the overall performance of mine or anyone else whom endeavors.
These time zapping losses will never be solved by a quicker, faster or bigger CPU/Architecture. As humans, we are stuck with these human conditions, personally, which of course can distinctivley define "personal computing"; unique in it's own personal way.
So what have I done with my New MacBook Pro? I transfered my 17" PowerBook to the new MacBook Pro. How seamless this was!! Less than 30 minutes, unbelievable. The Logitech MOUSE driver was effortlessly tossed to the MacBook Pro inclusive of all my documents, java code and every thing else in between. I actually connected to my wireless with the correct transfer of the WEP code after I entered the MAC ID into the router security table. I was astonished! (Hmm, security issue here, more thought on this later)
I downloaded the "New" FIREFOX (Optimized for Intel DUO) from
BeatNikPad. Yhea its fast. I am in the midst of attempting a DUAL boot for XP. I do like virutal Windows solution! However, I think I would rather have a VMWare solution for OSX/XP/LINUX without a reboot, but that time will come. However, this weekend is about XP booting for various reasons, the biggest being so I can carry one little 15" laptop. As opposed to my AMD 64 Based CompaQ whilst hurling my 17" Powerbook over my shoulder.
This morning Ill be off to Fry's to buy a proper XP license and I am estimating by 6pm this evening we will have the MacBook Pro dual booting Windows XP.
Wish me luck!!
